Your child has been selected to participate on Sacred Heart School's 2025 Badminton team. Practices are 3:30 -5:00 pm on April 1, 3, 8, 10, 14, 22 with optional days of April 7 and 9.
Preliminary Playdowns Tuesday April 15th. Doors open at 3:40, matches will start promptly at 4:00 pm. You must register before 4:00 pm or you will not be permitted to play. All athletes will attend preliminary playdowns. All groups will play at Wetaskiwin School (Sacred Heart School, Clear Vista School, Queen Elizabeth school and Wetaskiwin Composite High School).

LDAA Final Playdowns Wednesday April 23, 2025, only athletes that place top 2 in their age category will advance to final playdowns located in Beaumont (School TBA). A practice schedule will be given to athletes if they advance to the finals.
For April 16 (Wetaskiwin) transportation WILL NOT be provided for athletes, Athletes are expected to provide their own transportation to their appropriate school and be picked up from that school in a timely manner.
Playdown competition time will depend on how many games an athlete wins. Those who continue winning their games will be done later than those who lose, but we anticipate athletes being finished at approximately 7:30 pm. Please keep in contact with your student as to how they are doing and when they will be done.

Through this curriculum-linked tour of local facilities, grade 4 students will learn about the solid waste that leaves their homes, as well as the water they consume and the wastewater they produce. Students will also visit a green space and will come to appreciate nature's recycling process. By the end of the tour, students will better understand the waste produced in Wetaskiwin, and be able to act on conservation and waste reduction.

Metis Crossing

Students in the Cree Language and Culture elective, will attend a Land Based Learning overnight campout at Metis Crossing near Smokey Lake, Alberta. Students will have the opportunity to experience the land from an Indigenous perspective. We will be sleeping in Trappers tents. Students will be required to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. We leave the school at 8:45 am on Wednesday May 21 and will return by 3:00 pm on May 22.
Please pack a bagged lunch that does not require a microwave for the first day all other meals are provided. Pack clothing appropriate for the weather and being outdoors most of the trip
The Bus will be leaving Sacred Heart School at 8:45 (please do not be late as we are unable to wait for you) we will be returning in time for the after school buses.

Indigenous students in Grade 7 - 9 will have the opportunity to attend the 5th annual Central Alberta "Inspiring Youth Success Conference - We Matter" in Red Deer, Alberta. This conference is geared toward indigenous youth in Junior High School, it is meant to educate, inspire and teach about indigenous culture and ways of knowing.
Please bring walking shoes, backpack with 1 0r 2 snacks and a water bottle for the day. Morning snack and Lunch are provided.
Most sessions will be indoors, however; some sessions may be outdoors so a jacket or sweater is recommended.
Students will have to be dropped off in the morning and picked up when we return. If you are a bus students please make arrangements prior to the day of the field trip. We will be leaving the school at 8:00 am but will be back in time for after school buses. Please arrive no later than 7:50 am to load the bus, we will depart promptly at 8:00 am and are unable to wait for late students.

June 3rd, 2025 is our annual Faith Fair where students throughout the school get to experience, encounter, and learn about their faith through various presenters, activities, games, art and music.
This year, faith fair for Kindergarten and grade 1 students will take place at Sacred Heart Church. Students will experience a Vacation Bible School Day inspired by Cat Chat alongside the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium.

This field trip will be a whole day of fun. The children will get to experience and learn about animals. They will participate in a scavenger hunt and will explore and investigate what animals need to live and survive. Please dress for the weather as this is an outside field trip. A bag lunch that does not need heated up is required.
The children will be traveling by bus and will need to be at the school at 8:30 am in the morning and will be back at the school at approximately 3:00 pm in the afternoon.
Please note we do need some parent volunteers for this field trip. If you are interested in going along we would require a valid Criminal Record check as well as a Child and Youth intervention check. Please contact the office for how to obtain these checks.

On June 13, 2025 all Grade 3 classes will be visiting Fort Edmonton Park. We will leave the school at 8:50 and arrive back at the school at approximately 3:00pm in time for the after school buses.
Students will need clothing appropriate for the weather as we will be outside all day. They will be exploring the grounds through adult led Self-Discovery. Students who may be allergic to wheat and other grains should ensure their teacher knows. Students will need a bagged lunch (no heat ups available) and water bottle with your child's name clearly marked on each.

Grade 1's will visit Jurassic Forest on June 16, 2025. The students will travel by bus to Jurassic Forest in Gibbons, Alberta. The bus is leaving at 8:45 sharp and unfortunately cannot wait for students who are late to school, we will return in time for the after school buses. Lunch will be provided in the cost of the field trip (one hot dog, a bag of chips and a juice box).
Please send 2 snacks for the day and appropriate clothing to be outside for the day, good walking shoes (no flip flops or sandals) Pack a change of clothes, a hat, a water bottle, some snacks and bug spray and/sunscreen. Children will be responsible for their own backpacks.

Day one: Exploring the hoodoos, hands-on workshops, explore the museum gallery, supper in the museum, cast a museum fossil to take home, enjoy swimming, water sliding in the pool at the Drumheller Aquaplex. Night Accomodations in the world famous Dinosaur Hall - where you'll roll out your sleeping bag beside some of the biggest creatures to rule the Cretaceous. Day two Breakfast in the Museum cafeteria, more entertainment in the Museum auditorium visit Barney's Adventure Park for fun and lunch before heading home.

The Grade 6 classes will be attending a year-end field trip to Covenant Bay Bible Camp. The day will involve various outdoor activities, including wall climbing, archery, canoeing (for those who are comfortable), and other recreational pursuits.
As the activities will be outdoors, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
Students are required to bring a bagged lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen/bug spray, a towel, and a change of clothes in case they get wet while canoeing.
Please be reminded that the school’s phone policy will remain in effect throughout the day and while on the bus. We will depart Sacred Heart at 8:45 AM and return by 3:00 PM in time for regular school
